Ignition Interlock Device Regulations

Melanie’s Law requires all second or subsequent offenders to drive only those vehicles equipped with a breath alcohol ignition interlock device during the entire term of any hardship license and for a 2 year period after getting a full license reinstatement. Both the Mass. RMV and Board of Appeal strictly enforce this requirement. The Board and the Registry have a zero tolerance approach when dealing with interlock challenges.
